The Advantages of Prepaid Credit Cards
Filed Under (General) by admin on 17-08-2010
Today it’s hard to live without a credit card. Online retailers are more common for consumers, and paper money isn’t as convenient. From hotels to car rentals, credit cards are almost essential to do any transaction larger than a fast food order. When consumers can’t qualify for a credit card they’re not left with many options, but there is a smart and efficient alternative. Prepaid Credit Cards give you the same advantages as standard credit cards, but without the credit checks.
The card typically works the same way gift cards work, with one major difference: the card works everywhere, not just one location or store. You can find these cards in various types of businesses, from gas stations and convenience stores to large grocery stores or shopping malls. You simply purchase the prepaid credit card and load the amount you want.
Consumers don’t have to worry about overage charges, because once the money on the card runs out the card will decline. The card can help you keep track of your money, as it does have an eventual end balance. Owning a credit card with a large line of credit makes overspending too easy, but having a controlled amount on a card prevents you from going overboard on spending.
Prepaid credit cards are also a safe alternative to owning bank-issued credit cards. If someone steals your wallet or purse, the thief can max out your credit cards before you have time to report them as stolen. However, with a prepaid credit card the thief can still steal your balance, but then it stops. They don’t have any of your personal information; your losses are minimized and short-term. This is especially useful if you are on vacation or far from home. Prepaid credit cards allow consumers to continue being consumers.
